In Southern Crete, in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea, there is a remarkable undersea life. For many years, professional divers have organized trips in this area of the Mediterranean Sea. Kalypso Rock's Palace Dive Center operates legally with licenses and insurance required by law, having built facilities on Karavos beach in South Crete. Karavos beach is a natural park surrounded by hanging rocks making it a private secluded bay in the Central Mediterranean, ideal for underwater activities when the weather is fine.
The dive center is located in the facilities of Kalypso Cretan Village 4* Resort and Spa, of unique beauty and services adapted to the divers’ needs, offering to the residents divers the unique experience to dive just a few meters away from their room.
In the nearby area of Kalypso, the coastal tourist resort of Plakias (south of Rethymnon) provides all the necessary tourist services. The undersea activities are very popular with for experienced divers, who are always impressed by the underwater world of South Crete.
Kalypso Rock's Palace Dive Center has developed a friendly discovery programme of the undersea world (step by step), either by snorkeling or scuba diving. For experienced divers we offer various underwater tours and we organise boat trips (fully-equipped rental boat with diving license) to explore the Libyan Sea, the bottom of the sea, the caves, the rich diversity of fauna and flora.
The diving courses are followed by guided undersea trips to the fjords. Divers receive a certificate of attendance, as well as PADI certificates (the world’s largest Association of Diving Instructors) and they can have underwater photos taken from a professional photographer to keep their memories alive.
